Project description

Carbon Limits, in collaboration with Fossil-Free-Fuels (f3) and THEMA, conducted a project on behalf of a number of Norwegian biogas operators (16 in total) to survey sustainability criteria and assess greenhouse gas emission reductions from biogas. The project has resulted in a report that provides an assessment of sustainability and climate effect for biogas following the EU RED methodology for biofuels embedded in Produktforskriten, as well as recommendations on how environmental benefits should be documented along the full value chain. The project included a mapping of emissions to air related to storage and spreading of digestate and liquid biogas. During the project, actual GHG performance and sustainability for five Norwegian biogas value chains were considered.
