Carbon Limits has been contracted by a waste to energy company to develop a model to assess life-cycle GHG emissions from the full value chain. The GHG performance of low-carbon and renewable fuel products is typically determined through LCAs in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g. EU’s renewable energy directive for biofuels), and GHG savings (% reduction) are calculated compared to reference values for fossil fuels. In this case a full LCA tool was developed in accordance to the principles of “RSB Standard for Advanced Fuels” and the GHG savings were estimated for one of the facility of the company.
