Project description

Many governments have already committed to Net Zero. And yet, no government currently has a robust plan in place to develop and deploy CDR (Carbon Dioxide Removal) at the capacity required to counteract remaining emissions. The IPCC forecasts the need for hundreds of billions of tons of CDR to stabilize global temperatures in line with the ambitions of the Paris Agreement. However, most estimates of how much CDR will be required are global in nature and it is unclear what is achievable at a country level.

In this project, Carbon Limits assessed the potential for CDR deployment in Norway, and developed the CDR roadmap for Norway, created with valuable insights and inputs from local stakeholders. The roadmap aims to assist decision-makers in understanding what opportunities exist and what actions need to be taken to deploy CDR in Norway.

This project was funded by Carbon Gap - Europe’s first philanthropically funded environmental advocacy organization focused exclusively on Carbon Dioxide Removal.
