Project description

Carbon Limits supports Rwanda and World Bank in Paris Agreement crediting pilot. On 15 November 2018, the Rwandan government formally launched the “Standardized Crediting Framework (SCF) Pilot”, an initiative support by the World Bank’s Carbon Initiative for Development (Ci-Dev) to develop innovative tools to support energy access in poor countries using international carbon markets under the Paris Agreement. This is the second SCF Pilot - first one in Senegal was launched in July 2017, also with support from Carbon Limits and partners Climate Focus. The Rwanda SCF Pilot will focus on improved cookstoves and will develop a crediting program based on the Inyenyeri Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Program of Activities (PoA), which provides both high quality gasification cookstoves and sustainable wood fuel briquettes to households.
