Randall has more than 25 years’ experience in international carbon markets – from project and methodology development to policy and mechanism design. Randall supports host and buyer countries in participating in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, as well as helping project developers and carbon funds to create viable Article 6 cooperative activities. Funds include the Transformative Asset Carbon Facility (TCAF), Foundation for Climate Protection and Carbon Offset (KliK), and Carbon Initiative for Development (CiDev). Pilot activities supported cover energy access, sustainable agriculture, renewable power generation, biogas, and waste management across more than a dozen countries, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa. Randall is also part of expert teams proposing tools for the Article 6.4 mechanism and is developing a series of guide books on Article 6 strategy, policy and project development. In voluntary carbon markets, Randall evaluates the quality and integrity of carbon credits as part of the Carbon Credit Quality Initiative (CCQI), leading the GHG Integrity Panel for Calyx Global’s crediting rating system, and as a Subject Matter Expert on the Expert Panel for the Integrity Council for Voluntary Carbon Markets (ICVCM).
Randall finds solace in playing Chopin nocturnes after a long day of climate policy. Very outdoorsy, he is always up for a new adventure and his jokes are always on the right note.
